In the winter of 1912 in a little provincial town in Norway, a little girl is born whose whole body is covered in fine blonde hairs. For scientists of the time an interesting case, a curiosity. Eva's mother dies in childbirth and her father stationmaster Arctander at first rejects all contact with his "lion girl". Shut away, far from the curious eyes of the outside world, little Eva creates her own world until one day she finds the courage to escape the constrictions of her life. (Filmfest Hamburg)

English The Norwegians have a knack for crafting commercially appealing stories with a Hollywood touch, and The Lion Woman is a perfect example. The film's setting in early 20th-century Norway is beautifully done, and the story itself is engaging enough to captivate just about anyone. It’s a tale that evokes a wide range of emotions — one minute you’re tearing up, and the next, you’re feeling inspired. While it ultimately unfolds as a classic story of a strong woman, a theme that’s popular these days, you won’t mind because it has all the elements that make for a great evening watch. ()
