English Statistically speaking, Romanian cinema might just be the longest in Europe these days, rivaling even classic Bollywood epics in runtime. Sieranevada doesn’t really have a clear reason for its title, but it does pull you into the chaotic world of a Romanian family — just as messy as any typical European family. Watching it felt a lot like when I saw Pororoca in theaters: intriguing, with long, drawn-out shots that have a certain charm, but also moments that really drag. It’s everything all at once, packed into three hours. ()

English This amounts to three hours of confused looking around in an apartment of a few feet in size. A final catharsis is as helpless as life itself. Puiu's uncompromising method brought to a suffocating consistency. A film you have to endure to enjoy. ()
