Godless (2017)

English The series had an interesting format: six episodes + a feature-length film at the end. The individual episodes were a little longer than I'm used to, the pace was literally lazy in places, and there was hardly any action, but I still had a good time from the first episode to the action-packed finale. I have to praise the cast, all the characters seemed perfectly natural, I thought the sheriff Bill McNue was especially good and of course Alice Fletcher, because I just love Michelle Dockery. I was intrigued by a strange custom in the little town of La Belle: if you want a man, shoot one. Unconventional, but obviously functional. ()

An Incident at Creede (2017) (E01)

English ### Godless - An Incident at Creede (2017)   I expected more action from this western series, but I have to admit it hooked me right away, and I’m sure the action will come. For now, I’m enjoying the fantastic atmosphere, thrilled by Michelle Dockery’s casting (because Susan), and amused by the one-armed bandit character (even though I’m not really into slot machines). The Ladies of La Belle (2017) (E02)

English It’s strange — even though the plot wasn't particularly gripping, I wasn’t bored at all. I bet if we could transmit smells along with sound and picture, beneath all the sweat, horse musk, and Frank’s rotting hand, you’d smell the ozone of an impending storm. ()

Wisdom of the Horse (2017) (E03)

English Sure, the plot moves at a leisurely pace, but when the action does kick in, it's totally worth it. I've noticed the atmosphere subtly thickens with each episode, and it's not hard to see why. I assume the story will really ramp up in the finale, but I've been enjoying the series since the first episode—probably more than I expected to. ()

Fathers & Sons (2017) (E04)

English The story continues to unfold at its own pace (which is to say, slowly), but I’ve gotten used to it. The gradual progression suits me, and I appreciate how the creators are giving the characters the depth they need. Unexpectedly, there was even some humor in this episode — the hunting trip had me genuinely entertained. ()

Shot the Head off a Snake (2017) (E05)

English The episode title didn’t quite hit the mark — I’d call it "How Frank Met Roy." This was the shortest episode so far, and the ending credits caught me off guard. The more I watch, the more I doubt that Frank is the biggest problem in La Belle. ()

Dear Roy... (2017) (E06)

English For five episodes, I wondered when the creators would bring Frank Griffin to La Belle, and now I see they saved it for the finale. The flashbacks have been consistently engaging, and this episode was no exception, though the final flashback left me puzzled. Did the miners’ wives really walk them to work like that every day? Coming from a mining region myself, I’m pretty sure that’s not how it goes. ()

Homecoming (2017) (E07)

English Everything ended just as I expected, but...how else could a western series with this premise conclude? The final episode was fantastic, and I didn't mind that Griffin lost more than 150% of his men. The creators nailed the perfect mix of atmosphere, action, and suspense. ()
