Season 1 (2016) (S01)

English I had slightly mixed feelings about the first episode, but then I got totally absorbed in the series. I see it as an excellent drama with elements of thriller about a fight of a bunch of losers around Billy McBride (Billy Bob Thornton) against a nearly omnipotent defense corporation, represented by the law firm of his long-time nemesis, Donald Cooperman (William Hurt). The season had an excellent atmosphere almost all along, it included a number of cunning twists and very decent to excellent acting performances. I was a little disappointed by the outcome of the trial, which was fortunately not the last scene and it turned out much better in the end. I would definitely highlight the soundtrack and the excellent opening credits. ()

Of Mice and Men (2016) (S01E01)

English I'm not entirely sure if this is a drama or more of a thriller. The main plot is pretty standard: a supposed suicide turns out to be something more, with a big company exerting control through threats and money. It's not very original. Normally, I'd give it three stars, but Billy Bob Thornton's performance is so good that he elevates the show by an extra star. I haven't seen a film or series that wasn't made better by his presence. ()

Pride and Prejudice (2016) (S01E02)

English The second episode really hit the mark. Things started moving, and William Hurt stepped out of the shadows to reveal himself as the true villain. Billy Bob Thornton's performance is so effortlessly natural it must make his co-stars feel a bit inferior. The plot has gripped me to the point where I want to binge the remaining six episodes, but I'm only human. Sort of. By the way, the ending of this episode was intensely dramatic — props for that! ()

Game On (2016) (S01E03)

English It wasn’t until this episode that the series shifted from a thriller to a drama, with the action moving into the courtroom. This episode made me realize that our legal system seems like a walk in the park compared to the American one. The plot really pulled me in and kept me hooked until the end credits. ()

It's Donald (2016) (S01E04)

English The episode smoothly continues the storyline from the previous ones. Billy Bob Thornton shines in every scene he’s in, and Molly Parker is becoming increasingly intriguing with her cunning character. However, the episode’s climax belongs to William Hurt, whose final scene left a lasting impression. Here’s hoping I can get it out of my head before bed, or I’m in for some serious nightmares. ()

Cover Your Ass (2016) (S01E05)

English *Excellent episode with a wonderfully dark atmosphere, likely because we get to spend more time with Donald Cooperman, who lurks in his office like an especially sinister spider in his web. I'm increasingly impressed by the depth of each character and how a single line can shift the tone of the entire episode. Can't wait for the next one! ()

Line of Fire (2016) (S01E06)

English It's interesting how the series has maintained such high quality since the second episode. The first one left me a bit unsure, but now, with just two episodes left, I'm already feeling nervous because I've grown to love this show so much. The battle of wits between McBride and Cooperman is fantastic, and it's clear that Billy Bob Thornton and William Hurt are having a blast with their roles. ()

Beauty and the Beast (2016) (S01E07)

English I was worried that as the series neared its end, the writers might lose control, leading to a rushed and illogical conclusion. But that hasn't happened. Instead, I watched an excellent episode with perfect atmosphere and stellar performances. Billy Bob Thornton and William Hurt continue to dominate and elevate the series. ()

Citizens United (2016) (S01E08)

English The finale kept up the meticulously built atmosphere. There were some great twists in the trial, with Donald Cooperman taking the stand. I was particularly pleased with the ending — it didn't fall into the trap of a typical American happy ending. Instead, it maintained a slightly grim tone, which I really appreciated. ()

Season 2 (2018) (S02)

English I'm glad I got to see the second season. I had a great time watching it, not even a single episode was boring, and Billy Bob Thornton was in excellent shape as usual. That said, I wasn’t as impressed by this season as by the first one. After having seen both, I can honestly say that I would not want someone like Billy McBride to represent me in court. Sure, the trial would probably turn out well for me, but... ()

La Mano (2018) (S02E01)

English The second season started off well, delivering a classic introduction to new characters. I found myself enjoying the story right from the start. Plus, having Billy Bob Thornton on screen is always a guarantee of quality. ()

Politics (2018) (S02E02)

English I was satisfied and entertained throughout. However, the one thing that didn't quite sit right with me was Billy's new relationship - it felt a bit strange and out of place. ()

Fresh Flowers (2018) (S02E03)

English I'm sticking with a four-star rating for this one, which might seem boringly predictable, but each episode delivers consistently, and while it may not have the same gripping effect as the first season, I'm pleased that the series is maintaining its level of quality. Here's to hoping it continues down this path. ()

Alo (2018) (S02E04)

English The plot caught me off guard a few times, but I have to admit, I was thoroughly entertained throughout and never once felt bored. Billy Bob Thornton's minimalist acting is a highlight for me; he effortlessly conveys the character's emotions and keeps me engaged. Watching him, I can't help but think there are several actors who could benefit from studying his performances for a more natural portrayal on screen. ()

Who's Gabriel (2018) (S02E05)

English I was entertained right from the start with the animated introduction to the episode, and this good mood stayed with me until the end. The creators once again delivered their wonderful blend of intrigue and sneakiness that I love so much about this show. ()

Two Cinderellas (2018) (S02E06)

English The sixth episode certainly had its flaws, no doubt about that. However, this time I chose to set aside the criticisms and instead focus on the overall rating because the events of this episode were crucial for the story's development. ()

Diablo Verde (2018) (S02E07)

English The chamber-conversational passage that took up a significant portion of the seventh episode was straight out of a Tarantino movie :-) I'm usually critical of episodes that deviate from the main storyline and end up as mere 'filler' without contributing to the plot. I was afraid this would be the case here. However, I quickly realized I was wrong because this turned out to be the best episode of the second season for me. ()

Tongue Tied (2018) (S02E08)

English The finale of the second season left me somewhat disappointed, especially after the strong previous episode. Not to say there weren't well-executed moments, but there were also parts that didn't quite resonate with me, making the whole experience feel somewhat unconvincing. Well, at least there was no fairy-tale ending. ()

Season 3 (2019) (S03)

English I consider the third season definitely the weakest one so far. I was looking forward to another legal battle full of intrigue and manipulation. What I got instead was this weird sort of mess that was trying to convince me using frequent hallucinations that the crows are not what they seem. For the first time, I was bored by this series at times, which was the last thing I had expected. A shame. ()

The Subsidence Adventure (2019) (S03E01)

English The opening of the third season left me feeling a bit puzzled. It kicked off in an epic manner, and I was once again entertained by Billy McBride's polite yet persistent quest for information. However, I was left scratching my head at the inclusion of almost paranormal activities and hallucinations in the plot - it didn't quite resonate with me. ()
