The Prizzi family's principal hit man, Charley (Nicholson), is about to discover that he and his new bride (Turner) share more than just body heat: They're both cold-blooded assassins, and their next job is to ice each other! Reviews (2)
No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't find any comedy in this movie. To me it was just another movie about organized crime. The problem is that the film doesn't have what it takes for a proper gangster movie. Plus, I never really liked Kathleen Turner, so she ruined the romance aspect for me. That leaves us with drama, which, just like the crime (gangster) genre, left a lot to be desired. Given the 130-minute running time, the film did drag a bit. ()
After the glowing reviews I was expecting something a bit stronger, more intense. I didn't get that. The film is good, it has great acting, but somehow it only works as a weak satire, not as a great, biting comedy. Jack Nicholson is excellent as always, but he's not the only one who excels here. ()
