English What thrilled me about the first season was still there. However, I often found the characters behaving as if they were from another planet. The plot gets even more convoluted, and I started to lose track of things. Babylon Berlin isn't an easy watch, and it's certainly not for everyone. But with its captivating atmosphere, it definitely deserves attention. ()

English I found Season 2 very enjoyable, not counting episodes 3 and 8, which annoyed/disappointed me a lot due to the poor writing. The rest of the episodes were okay, so I enjoyed the great atmosphere and plot, rich in various political machinations, but I still think the first season was slightly better. ()

English The second half of Babylon Berlin changes style somewhat. The period fresco is interspersed with action, and the conclusion of the investigation is lined with overcomplicated events. Both Gereon and Lotte narrowly escape death (repeatedly), and many of the groups searching for the Sorokin gold are on the brink of civil war. Yes, it was very suspenseful, but not in the spirit in which the series began. If the adaptation of the second book, "The Silent Death," returns with less action, I will welcome it with open arms. Babylon Berlin is not a tribute to films starring Harry Piel. On the other hand, if we got more musical numbers in the style of Leo Monosson and his "Mir ist so nach dir," I certainly wouldn't mind.
