It's for Your Own Good

An enjoyable Spanish comedy that benefits from a fresh idea. Three brothers-in-law decide to ruin their daughters' relationship because they are not happy with the choice of their new boyfriends, so they devise various traps for it. The characters of the fathers are funny, the daughters are likeable, it has a feel-good atmosphere and a touching ending. Overall, a very enjoyable flick. I could imagine even more gags, France can hit the diaphragm more in this respect, but I had a very pleasant time. 7/10 (11/29/2022)

The three fathers want to get rid of their daughters' suitors and they start making plans. The three goons are pretty amusing stereotypes: one is a drug dealer, one is the same age as the fathers, and the third is an anarchist. In contrast, the dads have fine characterizations and are fun to watch, there are some funny situations and some jokes. In the end, it's classic, with the developments from beginning to end predictable before you even watched it, but as a nice one-off, it does the job. It could have been better and funnier , but for an average (albeit skippable) film I guess it's enough. (12/29/2022)
