When I tell someone what this series is about, they must inevitably shake their head. Drew Barrymore, as a real estate agent, during a meeting with potential buyers in a house that is for sale, totally vomits in the living room carpet, then repaints the bathroom completely. Then she faints. When she wakes up, she becomes a zombie, but one that functions and is aware. She just gets hungry and needs fresh meat. Well, what can I tell you, you wouldn't believe how entertaining this premise can be. Superb actors and jokes that often made me laugh out loud, I enjoyed them so much after the first season that I don't hesitate to watch the second season. ()
The first season of the American horror-comedy streaming television series Santa Clarita Diet is successful at not being afraid to combine the two genres. Sure, there really is not much that is very scary. It is more in the subject matter than the atmosphere. However, it is still a show that knows how to entertain its audience, and it is genuinely hilarious in places. I guess that means you could forgive it for not being more of a horror show, although it is quite an original take on the zombie horror genre. ()
