When Hotaru Tachibana storms into a host club to avenge the honor of a wronged female student, the last thing Hotaru expects is to duel the club's most popular host with airsoft guns instead of fists. When Masamune Matsuoka's experience wins out over Tachibana's brawn, he realizes that he can use his victory (and the large bill for damaging the club) to make Tachibana join his struggling Survival Gaming team. However, what ladies' man Masamune totally misses is that his unwilling new guy... isn't a guy at all! Under the boy's clothing and strong need to defend justice, Tachibana is all-girl, but, for a number of complicated reasons, she absolutely CAN'T expose that fact to Masamune or his teammate, the erotic manga artist Toru Yukimura. I find the airsoft environment quite interesting, and even though I am not too fond of no-brainer shootouts, I enjoy playing soldiers, just as I enjoy paintball. The gender bender storyline does not bother me in any way, and it is pretty well produced. What I really like are the characters. It sort of reminds me of Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun, which also had similar surprising characters. I probably enjoyed Tooru Yukimura the most out of the characters in this show, as he is a cool and sensitive S&M manga artist. I also found the main two protagonists easy to like. Hotaru is especially cool when her bloodlust kicks into full gear (in other words, this is once again an anime series featuring a girl who has the most "balls," although it feels more natural and fun in this show). In general, you could call the interactions between the characters a "bromance" if you wanted to, and it is all handled well, given the fact that one of the characters is not actually a "bro" at all (which almost none of the other characters know). It is also very funny and interesting in places. I liked the outcome and would happily watch another season. 8/10. ()
