English It’s been a while since a pilot episode grabbed me right from the start, but Counterpart managed to do just that. The concept of parallel dimensions, a spy thriller with a touch of sci-fi, and a strong dystopian vibe straight out of 1984—the foundation was solid. But as the season went on, things started to unravel. With 10 episodes, the pacing was all over the place. Some episodes felt like absolutely nothing happened, while others had me on the edge of my seat. The quality swings were frustrating, to say the least. I usually have a problem with shows dragging things out, and this one was a prime example. As it’s a spy thriller, it also got a bit too convoluted for my liking, and I ended up feeling lost at times. I finished the first season but wasn’t convinced to dive into the second. I wouldn’t call it a total waste of time, though—there are some moments of solid atmosphere and creativity that might appeal to some viewers. ()
