Doom Patrol (2019)

English I wasn't interested in the Titans series, but I tried this one after long hesitation and I don't feel good about combining these two ideas. However, as a standalone project, Doom Patrol is nicely bizarre. It's got a bit of Frankenstein and 1950s Hollywood to it, so it's not all that foreign to me. ()

Season 1 (2019) (S01)

English Yes, Cyborg is really the last DC character I would follow in any medium. Yet the adventures of the robotic Brendan Fraser and his nightmare-derived idea buddies have something going for them. The various strange experiments conducted by the evil Nazi are reminiscent of Hellboy, while the problems of Rita Farr, aka Elasti-Woman, are very entertaining. So, when you no longer care and when you're done with the golden age, Doom Patrol will be there waiting for you. In terms of the acting, I'm very happy with Matt Bomer, a veteran of Glee, The Last Tycoon, and the later American Horror Story series. What is positive is the shortening of the planned 2nd season by five episodes, because that's exactly how long this first one would need to be really good. ()

Season 2 (2020) (S02)

English DC was strangely multiplied by comic magical realism, resulting in the second season of the wild Doom Patrol. Remember Pushing Daisies? Yes, something like that, multiplied by ten. Add some intense melodrama, a circus setting, a few layers of trauma, toxic family relationships, and you'll have a rough idea of why it's such an attractive show. ()

Season 3 (2021) (S03)

English After the major changes at the end of the second season, it was necessary to ensure that the group of monsters found a new goal and sense of purpose even after the death of their leader, Victor Frankenstein. The storyline involving the boss's ape daughter had run its course, and while the first few episodes of the season stumbled a bit, the story found its direction in the second half. The reduced number of main characters allowed for a deeper focus on individual personalities, and each one stood out better than the last. Cyborg managed to reconnect with his human side, Elasti-Woman relived her entire life thanks to time travel, and Robotman fully embraced his role as a grandfather. Particularly, the episodes Dada Patrol and 1917 Patrol convinced me of the show's value, which only seems to work with the logic of nonsense. In the end, I think I’ll look back on the entire show fondly. ()
