English Gary Cooper is one of those actors for whom aging doesn’t seem to make a difference. Here, he immersed himself in the role of a cowboy who might not be as much of a gentleman as one might think at first glance. His past haunts him, but it doesn't just affect him alone and also impacts the people around him. This encounter with the past in a western setting didn't exactly thrill me, but it does show the depth of the genre. ()
