I'm returning to Big Little Lies after a hiatus and slowly reassessing my interest in it. Stories of individual mothers of children who have just gone into first grade don't sound like the biggest draw in the world, but if the mothers are great characters with interesting stories, they may indeed get attention. There's a wonderful animalistic relationship played by Nicole Kidman and Alexander Skarsgård, then there's the plotter Reese Witherspoon and more and more moms who are most certainly not on vacation while raising children. I'm glad that I gave the series a chance, the second episode develops individual characters and the story, the conflicts between both sides are spreading even among those who were previously uninterested, and as is typical for American culture, there is also a case of sexual harassment in the first grade of elementary school, so overall I'm satisfied. Additionally, I have to admit that alongside Nicole Kidman, Reese Witherspoon delivers the best acting performance, even though I don't particularly like her. ()
