Bogus tarot card reader Ivy (Toby Poser) and her teenage daughter Echo (Zelda Adams) are an unconventional but loving mother/daughter team. But when reclusive Kurt (John Adams) moves in down the road, a tragic accident results in Echo's murder, causing three lives to collide in mysterious and wicked ways. Kurt believes he can hide his secret beneath the earth – but Echo, refusing to accept death, burrows into his head until he can feel her in his bones. The film starts off promising, but quickly gets bogged down in a tedious slog, occasionally spiked with interesting ideas or solid scenes. Unfortunately, it ultimately drowns in its own absurdity. If it had maintained a consistently dark tone without veering into unintentionally funny territory, it might have turned out better. The ending is a complete joke. It's a very low-budget film, but that's not what sinks it. With a sharper script, it could've been a fresh, psychological horror with a unique take on ghost stories. As it stands, the potential was buried deep underground.
