The Chocolate Box (S05E06)

(episode)
Crime / Drama / Mystery / Thriller
UK, 1993, 51 min

Plots(1)

Accompanied by Poirot, Inspector Japp is visiting Brussels where he is to receive the 'Branche d'Or' for his services to Belgium. A remark of Commissaire de Police Chantalier brings back memories of a case which Poirot 'failed' to solve over 20 years ago. The very notion is plainly ridiculous - and Poirot amusedly turns over in his mind the fascinating story of the liberal politician and his fateful chocolate box. (iTunes)

English I was quite curious about this episode due to the title, and I must say it didn't disappoint me in any way. The use of the candy box is quite clever, and it's evident that Agatha always had ideas up her sleeve. The resolution is excellent, but overall, it's a very good idea how it's told - through flashbacks that have an impact on the present. It's been used in the series before, but it doesn't get old quickly. ()
