Back to School

A passable French comedy about a reunion of elementary school friends, where the joke is that the biggest nerd will inadvertently impersonate the biggest bully in the class, whom no one has seen in 20 years. This makes for a number of comical situations and makes the film enjoyable to watch. Even the unexpected final twist is amusing. I was expecting more gags, but still I was satisfied. 65%. You can tell the creators don’t have much comedy experience under their belts. They tried to make a modern French comedy, complete with the usual alcohol-fueled antics, but the result is forgettable. This one will likely fade into the background of French comedies, only to be stumbled upon by someone bored enough to give it a go on Netflix. Otherwise, there’s really no reason to seek this out.
