Living with Yourself

A pleasant movie about clones, a bit in the vein of Multiplicity. Rudd delivers an incredible performance in both roles. His devastated and bored Miles is unexpectedly realistic, while watching the happy Miles descend into depression is just plain funny, with an ingenious climax in front of the mirror. The ending unfortunately takes the film back to safe ground, but I don’t have any fundamental problem with that. This is no super sci-fi probe into the psyche, but quality entertainment for half an hour during lunch or before going to bed. (10/24/2020)

Paul Rudd is generally a solid draw for a mini-series. And when you add the fact that Aisling Bea, whom I had never known before, is there to accompany him, and she is really nice to look at, it cannot be considered a waste of time in this case. However, the screenwriters cut a relatively amusing theme into nonsense, and so in the second half, it turned into places that I was glad to leave after the eighth episode. (12/23/2023)

Someone here had a great idea but ultimately couldn't quite get a handle on it. From the third episode onwards the story plods along, and then descends into uninspired boring drivel with a weird ending. Paul played both roles very well, but I can't shake the feeling that for all his efforts he still turned in a rather dry performance in the end. Three stars for the "Piña Colada" song, I have a great fondness for that one. (03/06/2022)
