Rome, 1943: Matilde (Aurora Giovinazzo), Cencio (Pietro Castellitto), Fulvio (Claudio Santamaria) and Mario (Giancarlo Martini) are the main attractions of the "Mezza Piotta Circus" run by Israel, meanwhile someone starts looking for the four freaks with a plan that could change the fate of the whole world. The worsening of the war across Europe in 1943 puts the survival of the Circus at risk and in the end they find work at the prestigious Berlin Zircus, a sumptuous show put on by the Nazis who have occupied Rome. The Zircus is actually the realm of Franz, a German pianist with six fingers on each hand who possesses clairvoyant powers: he had a premonition of Hitler's suicide and the arrival of four beings with superhuman powers that could save the fate of the Third Reich. English I remember how pleasantly surprised I was by Jeeg at the Karlovy Vary film festival. So, I had high hopes for the director’s next film and eagerly dove in. Technically, there's not much to criticize. It feels like a unique blend of Guillermo del Toro and Terry Gilliam, filled with imaginative ideas that immediately draw you in. However, there are almost too many ideas, and at times, it borders on chaotic mess. Ultimately, that's what it is — a technically impressive, entertaining mess. ()
