Top Secret!

A decent parody with Nazis and likeable Val Kilmer, where the first hour does not bring any big outbreaks of laughter, but the final 20 minutes are awesome, too bad it didn't come earlier. 6.5/10. (04/25/2021)

Is this film really that little known? An excellent parody from three of the most accomplished and iconic filmmakers. It may not reach the quality of The Naked Gun or Hot Shots, but it’s still a guarantee of relentless and smart entertainment. The story aims at everything and everyone with admirable precision and the action build-up is one of the best ever in the genre. The only thing that prevents me from going full blast is the knowledge that if I were to watch it three or four times, the experience won't be so good as with its aforementioned genre siblings. GENIUS! You can see that the trio Zucker-Zucker-Abrahams have matured incredibly since their first parody in 1980 and figured out how to tackle this genre, and the result is a total blast. I would never have believed I would see Val Kilmer in a parody, but the impossible has become a reality and Val as the lead star along with the absolutely excellent humour propel the film to great heights. It's exactly the same sumptuous load of gags as Hot Shots, making fun of everyone and everything and delivering a bunch of scenes I couldn't have dreamed up in my wildest dreams. A fine affair and one of the few genre films I'll happily return to. (03/21/2023)
