Plots(1)
A dark and suspenseful gangster film, The Big Combo tells the story of Leonard Diamond (Cornel Wilde), a police lieutenant who's obsessed with mob kingpin Mr. Brown (Richard Conte) because he's in love with Brown's girlfriend Susan Lowell (Jean Wallace). So far Diamond hasn't been able to dig up any dirt on Brown. But then Susan, who is unable to disentangle herself from the mob boss, attempts suicide by overdosing on pills. In her delirium she whispers a word that leads Diamond closer to exposing Mr. Brown's ill-doings. When Brown discovers this, he has his goons kidnap and torture the lieutenant in retaliation. Believing that he's gone too far, former mob boss Joe McClure (Brian Donlevy) approaches Mr. Brown's right-hand men Mingo (Earl Holliman) and Fante (Lee Van Cleef) to suggest that they over-throw the sadistic Mr. Brown. Instead, the henchmen murder the deaf McClure. It seems like nothing and no one can put a stop to the murderous Mr. Brown - not even Lt. Diamond… (Echo Bridge Entertainment)
