The masters of anime join forces to create this stunning animated film featuring three separate stories: Magnetic Rose, Stink Bomb and Cannon Fodder. In Magnetic Rose, two space travellers are drawn into an asteroid world created by one woman's memories. In Stink Bomb, a young lab assistant accidentally transforms himself into a human biological weapon set on a direct course to Tokyo. I must admit, I expected a bit more from Studio 4°C, especially after reading about them. I'm not sure if Memories is a film that stands out significantly from traditional Japanese animation, but it seemed quite standard to me, although it's true that the storytelling style is not that straightforward. Some scenes are truly excellent, showing how much can happen in a single scene. I guess I was just expecting something very special.
