Tsukamoto's two Tetsuo movies took body-horror to the limits, and this new shocker punches it's way into yet another violent combat zone. The director plays insurance salesman Tsuda, whose life with his fiancée Hizuru is turned upside down when he meets his old high-school classmate, Takuji, now a boxing pro with problems. In no time at all, Hizuru is making moves on Takuji, while Tsuda starts training in a boxing gym. What was the half-forgotten incident which bonded Tsuda and Takuji in their youth? Tokyo Fist explores a love triangle that couldn't be more in tune with the times: the 'new' man gets body conscious, the macho man gets nightmares and the hip young woman flexes her opinions. This is psycho-kinetic film making in the patented Tsukamoto style - bloody, convulsive, tender and blackly comic. (official distributor synopsis)
