Greed

A decent 4 hours on the topic of working with PowerPoint presentations. Or that no additional hour would be wasted. Sometimes I really prefer The Groom with the Curly Hair, because it's the only place where the silent film wasn’t hurt by the Brandenburg Waltz. Of course the work with the gold! (05/17/2012)

A film that was originally over nine hours long was edited down to four, and then further trimmed to just under two hours. Von Stroheim no longer intervened in the editing process and essentially distanced himself from the work. Most of it was destroyed; only photographs from the filming and individual shots survived. These, along with the two-hour preserved film, were pieced together to create a result that is both a film and a projection of photographs at the same time. What came closest to Von Stroheim's wishes was based on the technical script. That doesn't change the fact that greed is portrayed here truly... expansively. (07/02/2014)
