23-year-old Rakel discovers that she is six months pregnant. She got pregnant after a not-so-romantic one-night stand. Rakel has never wanted to be a mother, and reacts with denial, anger and frustration. When the fetus, which she calls “ninja baby”, soon crawls out of Rachel’s comics and out of her mind, it does not take long before he realizes that he must fight for his own future. Rakel, on the other hand, has to navigate between what she thinks is best for herself and what is best for her child – or is it perhaps the same thing? Ninjababy is a moving and funny film about growing up, and how unprepared you can be to experience something as natural as getting pregnant. (The Norwegian International Film Festival)

A refreshingly imaginative dramedy from Norway, Ninjababy follows a wild party girl who sleeps around and then discovers she's about six months pregnant. Sounds unbelievable? Tell that to those who give birth without knowing they're pregnant for the entire nine months. With its creative animated interludes, "Ninjababy" manages to be both delightfully original and occasionally sharp and funny.
