23-year-old Rakel discovers that she is six months pregnant. She got pregnant after a not-so-romantic one-night stand. Rakel has never wanted to be a mother, and reacts with denial, anger and frustration. When the fetus, which she calls “ninja baby”, soon crawls out of Rachel’s comics and out of her mind, it does not take long before he realizes that he must fight for his own future. Rakel, on the other hand, has to navigate between what she thinks is best for herself and what is best for her child – or is it perhaps the same thing? Ninjababy is a moving and funny film about growing up, and how unprepared you can be to experience something as natural as getting pregnant. English Quite an imaginative dramedy from Norway about a girl who parties, wreaks havoc, sleeps with everyone she meets, only to later find out she is about six months pregnant. That it's not possible? Well, tell that to those who give birth without knowing it for a whole nine months. Ninjababy, however, is quite pleasantly original with its animated inserts, and occasionally sharp, funny, and impactful. ()
