Czech TV's miniseries begins with a change of leadership at Palacký University in Olomouc. The Faculty of Arts has a new, female dean, who decides to shake things up and eradicate sexual violence. Her efforts escalate as a female student is murdered on campus. Building on the foundations of comedy and crime show genres, director Jan Hřebejk and screenwriters Petr Jarchovský and Michal Sýkora address changing gender and social roles and contribute the societal debate with this four-part miniseries. Behind the Curtain (2022)
A flawed and unsurprising whodunit that, after three clunky episodes with some interesting themes, turns into a complete farce in the fourth episode. And the idealization of the relationships between students and professors probably says more about the personality of the writers than about any attempt to address the problem.
