Halo - Season 1

As a huge fan of the games (and the books from this universe), I can honestly say I’m a bit disappointed with the final result. I really don’t understand why creators often take the source material and completely distort it. Fortunately, it wasn’t that radical here, but what they did with my beloved Master Chief will be hard to forgive. Most of the time without his iconic helmet, and sometimes yelling in battles like a baboon (where’s his stoic demeanor?). The cherry on top was the romantic subplot, where I was shaking my head in disbelief (I genuinely feel sorry for Pablo Schreiber; he put a lot into the character, but there’s not much you can do with a poor script). Fortunately, the action saved it to some extent; at least there, viewers could see a slight nod to the original games, with the final episode being particularly impressive in this regard. As for the subplot with the heroine Kwan, that was a tragedy. We’ll see what the second season brings; hopefully, the creators will learn from their mistakes and produce a higher-quality piece. The potential of this universe is in entirely different dimensions. For me, the first season is a 6/10. (05/21/2022)
