Unnamed Memory - Season 1 (2024) (season)

English What kept me hooked on Unnamed Memory was the chemistry between the main duo and how their relationship evolved throughout the series. They had a fun dynamic, often engaging in playful banter (not quite at the level of Holo and Lawrence, but still enjoyable). From the first episode, I really liked Oscar and Tinasha, and I saw the show as the dark horse of the season. The only thing that bothered me initially was Oscar's annoying servant. Unfortunately, I ended up feeling quite disappointed. The story and pacing were a letdown. It felt rushed in parts, like the source material was heavily trimmed down, and there wasn't enough explanation. The plot seemed disjointed and hard to follow, almost like a series of events hastily pieced together to get from point A to point B. The finale, with its time travel and paradoxes, didn't sit well with me either. If the creators intended to get me excited for a second season, it had the opposite effect. I'm now more worried about the potential pitfalls of playing with time and altering the past, a complex theme that few stories handle well. Despite these issues, I'll give the second season a shot in January. As for this one? The main characters were great, some supporting characters were decent, but others were either terrible or forgettable. The story didn't captivate me, and some parts are already fading from my memory. The pacing was off, but the animation was quite good, and the music was fine. There's potential here, but also a lot of room for improvement. Overall, I'd rate it a 5.5/10.

Tsukimichi -Moonlit Fantasy- - Season 2 (2024) (season)

English I really enjoyed the beginning, where we got to meet the remaining heroes and finally get a full picture of the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly trio (if you didn't get the reference, it's time to catch up on your movie classics). The storytelling was engaging, with humorous interjections about what Makoto was up to at the time. The ending was also great — starting from the first mutation, it was a whirlwind of battles and Makoto implementing his plans, sometimes having to improvise. However, unlike others, I didn't enjoy the middle section much. The part where our hero becomes a professor felt drawn-out and slow-paced. I won't lie — I was bored. I understand it was essential to develop Makoto's character, show him in a different light, and set the stage for the grand finale, but it felt like I was coasting through it. I didn't care about the Kuzunoha Company's local branch or the weather in demiplanes, and I couldn't connect with Makoto's new students. Surprisingly, the part I enjoyed most was Shiki's performance and work (and I know Mio and Tomoe would kill me for saying that). Another mixed aspect for me was the humor. Sometimes it was funny, but other times it felt a bit too silly for my taste. So, how does all this affect my rating? I pondered for a long time. There are standout moments that definitely deserve 4 stars, but they’re interspersed with a fair amount of filler and hit-or-miss humor. I got a lot of world-building, but only enjoyed parts of it (like the detailed world and faction introductions). Overall, it's not quite a 4-star series for me yet, but it's getting close. Hopefully, the next season will get there... 6.4/10.

Chillin' in Another World With Level 2 Super Cheat Powers (2024) (series)

English Spring 2024 is the season of wolf girls — pick your favorite! From the opening, it's clear who the show is pushing, and surprisingly, it does a decent job. Fenrys isn’t dull or outright annoying as I feared from the trailers. She's sometimes even cute, so I get why someone like our hero, Flio, would want to be with her. The creators also did well with Flio himself. Amidst all the conflicts, he's on a "full pacifist run." While it might seem like he’s just doing what he wants, his motivations are clear and genuinely likable. A few supporting characters also stood out, and I found them pretty entertaining. However, I’m aware that the characters are incredibly black-and-white, with their "color" not always fitting the role you’d expect (like an evil hero or a kind demon lord). The story isn’t groundbreaking, with many predictable elements, though there are a few minor surprises (like the hero being transported to this fantasy world from another fantasy world). Yet, it maintains a relaxed vibe throughout, perfectly capturing the "Chillin'" in the title. Overall, it's a slightly above-average isekai that knows what it wants to show and say, but it doesn’t go the extra mile to earn a higher rating from me. 5.9/10.
