English The subject matter and setting in the harsh, overcast north are great, and with McAvoy in the lead role, My Son has the potential to be a thrilling flick on a viewer-friendly theme. But it’s rather average in its execution. It starts off well and has solid plot development, but the climax is stupidly simplistic. ()

English It’s quite bizarre to make a film and then make it again a few years later, eh? The problem with this film, however, is that when it's over, you get the impression that it has left you with no feelings at all, it's completely empty, be it in plot, emotion, acting, theme or denouement - one big nothing. For an inexperienced viewer it will be fine, but I personally can't find a positive reason to see it after it's over - as I said, this film is simply a huge and empty nothing. ()
