We all have in mind the image of our friendly Santa with his big beard, his paunchy belly, his red coat and his red hat, edged with white fur, who slips into fireplaces to come and put presents under the tree. Where did this completely grotesque story come from and what symbolism does it carry within it? Finally, how did this profane character, a great figure in our consumer society, manage to find himself the hero of a Christian celebration? (Mediawan)
