Sadly, if it weren't for the occasional whiffs of sentimentality and the literally awful ending, The Big Man wouldn't have any particular flaws. The highlight of the film is Neeson's and Bannen's more than ten-minute duel (in my opinion one of the best scenes of this kind of film), which really made a strong impression thanks to Morricone's music. But the rest of the film is also worth seeing, and not just for its sympathetically dirty Scottish atmosphere. Three and a bit. ()
