Enemies Closer

Van Damme must have lost his freaking mind. I can’t think of a single reason in the world why he should decide to portray a character like this in such a terrible movie. He looks like a serial killer after his one-hundredth victim and on top of that he plays a bad guy who is as stupid as a doorknob. And that’s regardless of all the others who are pretty much ridiculous. And don’t even get me started on the story. (11/01/2014)

JCVD hasn't looked this ridiculous in a long time. Like a clown who forgot to put on makeup. Maybe that was the intention, but it's really hard to take such a film seriously. Van Damme still has it and he's an actor who can deliver something, so his villains, on which he seems to be focusing lately, are worthwhile and memorable. Let's be honest, this might just be his best villain yet. Van Damme dominates this film, and gradually I started feeling that it was actually quite good. In terms of the positive characters, it's quite dull, but JCVD simply makes up for it. He no longer kicks and jumps around, but instead focuses more on acting. This was great. (01/28/2014)
