In the late 1950s, José Fonseca e Costa was behind the manifesto of the Portuguese New Wave; he had to leave his homeland for political reasons for a while. He made his debut - a colour social drama about a love triangle - as late as in 1971. His film deals with the complicated situation of António, who is in love with Lúcia, who is in turn in love with an adventurous rebel called Francisco. (Summer Film School)
