Plots(1)
At the age of 17 Jérémie dreams of a different life from the one that awaits him at the family sawmill in the small rural Canadian town where he lives. He's more interested in pimping his car, listening to hip hop, and slacking off with his friends. The relationship between Jérémie and his father takes a turn for the worse when the boy's older brother gets married and moves away. This feature debut betrays something of the director's past life as a documentary filmmaker. With an eye for detail and a feel for the rural environment and its specific character, he offers an impressive work which, in thirty scenes, chronicles a teenager's summer, at the end of which Jérémie will make a life-changing decision. This is a summer that will never be repeated. (Karlovy Vary International Film Festival)
