Plots(1)
Seeking both power and glory, the French fleet led by Bonaparte, invades Egypt in 1798, and takes first Alexandria and then Cairo. One of Bonaparte's generals, Caffarelli, a scientist and a humanist, discovers Egyptian civilization and spirit. He makes friends with two brothers. Aly and Yehia, who had taken refuge in the capital, are fascinated with this learned and original character. While the resistance fighters set against the bloody oppression, Caffarelli, leaving behind him all warlike concerns, rebels himself against Bonaparte and his destructive conquests.
