Zoolander

Jesus Christ. Well I honestly expected it to be more of a romp, but there were some great jokes. Actually, I wasn't so much amused by Ben Stiller as I was by Owen Wilson's perfect creation. I might have had a little more fun if I had known that Milla Jovovich played Katinka (and I kept wondering if she was really hot or horrible) and Will Ferrell played Mugatu. I found the humor of the film more or less quite similar to Smith's Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, and the latter was crammed with jokes, about a third of which I laughed at, but I laughed hard, and that’s the main thing. This is definitely one of the craziest and most bullshit films to ever see the light of day. So why the 3 stars? Maybe because of Ben Stiller's absolute parody of himself, which he handles with aplomb? Or perhaps due to the bizarreness of a few scenes? Who knows?! In short, it's bollocks, but not the kind of bollocks like other comedies of its kind, but the kind with that "higher calling". (05/24/2011)

On most works of the legendary Frat Pack, I can find a surprisingly large number of mistakes, but this is the best. Insane, at times incomprehensible, but full of absurd humor and immensely funny, and striving for the highest rating from me. Zoolander has exactly the swagger and the right way of uncontrollability and unclassifiability that I can adore, even at an age when I am no longer the target audience. (08/28/2006)

I'll have Ben Stiller fixed in my mind as an original filmmaker, also considering his previous The Cable Guy. Zoolander is a hard to describe film, with an original story and some brilliant scenes. I can't say I laughed my ass off, but it's definitely not boring crap. (04/13/2003)

That's how you find out one day that you don't have a review for Zoolander, even though you love that movie about a totally dumb good guy (who controls so many different perspectives) so much. A very funny and very clever comedy that has no problem switching between crackling humor and moments that I'm not afraid to call poignant and yet still funny, well cast and not giving a damn.
