The story is truly unbelievable, and it’s no coincidence that this show dropped on Netflix around the same time as the documentary about the Israeli Tinder swindler. Anna is just another con artist of the highest order, profiting off other people’s foolishness. She’s smart, resourceful, and knows how to use her looks to her advantage — men fall for it, of course. But from a filmmaking perspective, it’s a mess. It has that cheap Hallmark drama vibe that’s pretty insulting to anyone who appreciates good cinema. Julia Garner might have the potential to be a great actress, but with such poor direction and production, it’s hard for her to shine.
